Horror Log: To Hell We Ride
I was at the Telluride Horror Show and I watched a bunch of amazing shit. Even if you don’t like horror, holy shit - find some way to appreciate and support artists you care about so we can keep putting stories out there that aren’t driven by what makes the most cash dollars according to the rich people.
I saw a film with John Lithgow wielding a creepy baby puppet and I saw a film about people with Down Syndrome fighting zombies by a director debuting his first feature film ever. My favorite stuff was short films going wild and disgusting and utterly hilarious places. As long as we have film fests I have hope that we’re all doing alright.
Here’s sketches of everything I saw, posted from me after a barleywine at what feels like an abandoned ski resort:
Usually my intent here s to connect over movies we’ve seen or have heard of. I don’t know if this will connect with anyone. So I’ll say this: you matter, your stories matter, and there’s a lot more out there than what social media or big studios are shoving in our faces. Before I went to this film fest I was feeling like a big weirdo without a place in the world, and I was reminded that I just need to find the other weirdos. That feeling may fade over time, but it’s something.
